a bouquet for Mommy

Hubs and our toddler went out for a walk in Hubs’ childhood neighbourhood. They came back showing me videos and photos of their walk, showing how passionate Yui became (or more like how she went amok) when she saw a statue of a horse.

Apart from the stories though, they brought home a priceless treasure too. With Yui in Hubs’ arms, she handed me this teeny weeny bouquet of wild flowers which she and her Dad picked up and which Dad bundled to make a bouquet.

Priceless.

Thank you A and Anak. But above all, I thank God for sending you both to me.

Oh, The Places You’ll Go! Daycare Year 2

First day at Year 2(つぼみ組). Yet more exciting things to come for you, Anak! From Monday, your class have started with the Moving Up transition; lockers and bins were already placed in your new room. And you yourself has been making a milestone since Monday! When we were about to leave the house and Mommy was preparing your baby car, you resolutely said, “it’s ok, it’s ok. Yui walk”. And that’s how it has been for two days now, morning and night. We leave your baby car at home, you’ve walked to/from daycare, rode the bus and had fun pushing the stop button (Mommy hopes this’ll help somehow with your self-esteem; that even though you’re still tiny, just with a small push, you can make all those switches light up and make the bus stop. Mommy can only hope!). And during the long walks (I do think they were very looong for you!), you held on to Mommy’s hand (well, there were a few struggles when you let go of Mom’s hand and made a sprint which made Mommy’s stress level soar to high heights because vehicles were passing by) and Mommy needn’t carry you at all. You did a very good job! Continue to do the great job you’re doing Anak! Daddy and Mommy loves you.

Valentines 2014

I believe I’ve mentioned in my previous posts that while for the rest of the world, men are racking their brains for new ways to surprise their women with Valentines Day gifts, it’s a whole lot different here in Japan (and I think Korea too). It’s Chocolate Day here; and it’s the women who give to the men they love or to men who are close to their hearts. There were Feb 14s in which Hubs kept to the rest of the world’s tradition and gave me flowers. For this year though, I kept to the Japanese tradition. But since we are in dire need of cups, I bought Hubs the Starbucks’ Valentines special mug instead of giving him chocolates.

Love shared over steaming mugs of ginger drink – because the two of us have cough and colds.

The three of us were supposed to have our special Valentines snack at the cozy cafe near our place but the three of us overslept (Mom and Dad accompanied baby to sleep) . We woke up just in time though for our reservation at the condo’s karaoke bar. FUN! We decided to have the special dinner at the cafe but by the time we finished our karaoke and groceries, the cafe was already about to close. And because it was already late for me to cook, our dinner was yakiimo (baked sweet potato) – simple but nutritious and delicious.

It was a simple kind of V-day, devoid of pomp and expensive flowers. We didn’t even have photos! The photo above was the last one I took since yet again I don’t have enough iPhone space. Nevertheless, it was a happy one, one that’s filled with contentment. And yes, we wouldn’t want to spend it any other way. 🙂

Goodbye, Hello

And just like that, it’s been a month already since we moved to our new house! Still not quite settled but we’re loving the place even more, by the day. There are some hitches to adjust to, think long waiting list at the neighbourhood (excellent) daycare hence we have to still go to previous
daycare. Yet even when it’s hectic, it has it’s advantages, think learning to be right on time (and I’m talking about a mere minute, singular!) to catch the bus. Yes, finally a (pretty) place to call our own! Thankful, grateful.

But that doesn’t mean to say we didn’t miss our old place. The new one is by far more beautiful; yet the old one also has its charm topping off the good memories we had there. We know we’ll miss it so in that we were emotional during our last visit there for the house inspection.

More than four years ago, Hubs and I fell in love with this place the first time we saw it.

Thank you Soreado!

Happy New Year 2015!!

The end of the year 2014, just before Christmas, we finally moved in to our new place, a place we could call our own. It’s been quite a busy year preparing for it (started the search from October last year) and finally just before the New Year, our hard work came to fruition. We couldn’t be thankful enough.

Not only with the new home, God has been faithful and has yet again showed us His goodness and mercy in many facets of our lives this year. He answers prayers. In the best way at the right time. Kore kara mo yoroshiku onegaishimasu (From now as well, please take care of us Lord).

Thankful. Joyful. Hopeful.

Merry Christmas 2014!!

In which we spent Christmas Day hopping around government offices updating our cards. But it was a happy hopping since the reason for the update was the beautiful gift that we were blessed with this Christmas/year. Thankful.

One big thing I was taught of this Christmas. To slow down. To not rush. To focus only on the essential. Thank you Po for chastening me.
