Happy New 2026!

明けましておめでとう御座います!

At least for the last three years or so, we have enjoyed perfectly clear sunrise, with nary a cloud in sight.

This morning though was quite cloudy, and we waited for about twenty minutes for the sun to peek through (and peak above) the heavy clouds.

Because of the clouds though, we were able to witness an incredibly lovely sight: the sun’s rays forging through. Priceless.

And of course the always, always, shines through.

This year we chose a new location and thankful we could get a good view. It was worth the try.

Happy 2026!!

New Year’s Day 2025

Happy that after several years, after having our Hatsuhinode, I could finally attend choir practice for New Year’s Day Mass and not be late at actual mass (NOT that it meant I sang perfectly haha).

Hatsuhinode (sunrise from 6:53am). Sacred Heart Cathedral. St Ignatius Church (Sophia University campus).

Tokyo meet up with friends from Houston and hearty conversations.

And a good New Year’s Day dinner at home. Well done, Day 1❣️

Plus cardio load/zone minutes/calories burned are doing great with all the walking from dawn.

Hatsuhinode 2023

Blessed with such a beautiful first sunrise in this year. Goosebumps seeing Lady Sun rising. Such an amazing scene.

The sunrise came in late actually. It was forecasted 6:50. But 6:53 came and we just have an increasingly lighter sky by the second. When she did came out at 6:57, it was breathtaking.

Thankful to have witnessed this grandeur, especially when it was super cloudy before and after 1st. 🥰

Hatsuhinode 2021

This year’s first sunrise was so breathtakingly beautiful it fills one’s heart with so much hope and love for the future. I wasn’t able to capture how the sun made everything golden before it fully rose; but it will remain in my heart.

We got a bonus too, after Church. Unobstructed view of Mt Fuji. Marvellous.
