Komeraku’s Ochazuke

It was unexpectedly cold today so I opted to buy ochazuke from my favourite bento shop for lunch. Ah. Simple but definitely Goodfood! 🙂
Salmon flakes. Nori. Rice crackers. Pickled vegetables. Dashi (fish broth) stock.

and hurray! I can finally post photos! Am not sure of the reason though but I did two things – update my iOS and deleted some apps to have more storage. Now, I-have-to-find-time to catch up with blog backlogs.

the best onigiri

THEY make the BEST onigiri I’ve ever had. Hubs rarely makes requests but he requests I buy this after my Saturday Nihongo class, in time for our lunch. Our favourite flavours thus far, tuna mayonnaise and salmon.

Found them in B1 of Keikyu Mall, Kamiooka station.

Onigiri are rice balls more often shaped into triangular form or oval form and usually wrapped with nori (dried seaweed). More often, they have fillings inside the ball; the more popular ones of which are salmon and tuna mayonnaise shown above. Some onigiri are also made of flavoured rice (ume/plum, shirasu and nori bits/whitebait and dried seaweed bits among others) without fillings. Great for take-outs, picnics and as food-on-the-go.

Haagen Daz Sakura

It is that time of the year again when everything that’s sold is sakura-inspired. But we certainly are not complaining! And that we sure are happy to indulge.
We got addicted to the sakura yogurt last year, which I haven’t found yet on the stores’ shelves this year.

Found this one.

What’s inside? Heaven.

It’s a heaven though that needs to be taken with a litre of water. Will try to post more sakura-inspired products soon.

OldTown white coffee

I know I lived (and am living and will live, hehe!) a good life before I had this. But now that I’ve tasted this one, I find myself thinking, “what would I do when I’ve already consumed the pack that a friend bought for me from his recent trip to Singapore??!!” To think this was supposedly for Hubs. 😀

Of course I already looked it up in Rakuten and Amazon Japan but it’s not sold there. There’s some in Amazon US but it’s unreasonably expensive.

Osechi 2014

Our Osechi for this new year. The jubako (layered box) features cranes which symbolises a fruitful year.

The baby of the house has her own osechi as well (thank you for the thoughtfulness, Obaachan! 🙂 ) Featuring the Anpanman cartoon series characters that’s popular among children here in Japan.

As one would suppose, each of the dish included in Oseshi has its own meaning. Read here for the symbology of some of the dishes!

Breakfast at Antonio’s

We went on a road trip with a couple of friends and their baby on our last vacay in Ph and stopped over at Breakfast at Antonio’s for lunch.

Ordered Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict. Yummy!

But when I tasted their Five Cheese Pizza that my friends ordered, I almost lost my head. Goodness, how good it was!!!

Their golden pancake that hubs ordered was delectable as well! Hmmm, looks like we might be dropping by this resto on every Tagaytay trip we’ll be having in the future.

Had a day off from work today (and Yui from daycare) because Yui and I have fever. We both had a sleepless night but thankfully Yui’s fever finally broke this afternoon and i’m dearly hoping it won’t come back anymore (at least this time. Please fever, don’t come back, ok?). Yui had been very clingy in that she can only sleep if she’s snug against me. Can’t do any household work. But good thing I can blog while sweaty Yui sleeps on my chest. :).
