a goal for the next 21 days

I’m currently in the midst of drafting my post for the tea ceremony experience we had last Sunday. I actually started drafting it last Sunday, wanting to post it right after we got back home. Alas, it’s Saturday already and yet i’m still having trouble uploading the videos. I tried publishing through my iPhone but at some point the App crashed. Now tried it in iMac but the upload rate is somewhere along 1%/5 minutes. Hence I decided to revisit TED while waiting for the first video to load.

Gosh I miss TED! And i’m so glad the talk I ran into has just the humor i needed. Do watch it!

Back when I had my “count thy blessings” post in December, I said that once you did something for 30 days consecutive, you’ll end up having that deed as a habit. From Achor’s talk above, it seems 21 days is all you need. And it isn’t just about making something a habit. It’s about recording three things daily in 21 days to help your mind focus on the positive side of things. For a happier you. For a hopefully more efficient and successful you.

So here’s to a goal of posting 3 things to be grateful for for the day, for the next 21 days! 🙂

And oh, today’s three things?

– thankful for Hubs who was willing to cook lunch while I sleep my head off

– thankful for friends and family with whom I can share what I’m going through, with whom I can ask to help me pray

– thankful for the Mentors I have met so far. Some of them might be out of reach, some whose genius I can only have a glimpse on, some of them I soooo wish to talk to more often, most of them doesn’t have an inkling I consider them my mentor. But at least at some point in my life they’ve touched me and their influence would always help me along the way. Albeit I still really wish for official mentors. 😛

Fuji-san

Wasn’t able to photo capture Fuji-san the other morning when the snowcapped mountain looked so clear and powerful. Thankfully I had the time to capture Fuji-san during sunset. But was so surprised how the mountain looked so small on the photo when it certainly looked so looming for us in actuality.p Probably I need a professional to capture it as it is. 🙂

songs from the heart

It was so hard for me to sing “Make Me Whole” before. I’d sing a few lines and my voice would crack, tears would then well up on my eyes as I think of Hubs. That was how dear the song was for me, for us. Thankfully, I was able to sing the song during our wedding, without messing things up.

I hope soon I can sing this too, just as beautifully, without cracks showing up in my voice as tears well up.

HAZOP

It really took me by surprise when I saw my calendar and realized that it’s only Tuesday. What?!! Been very busy and occupied lately it felt like it’s Thursday already. At work, I was very occupied at work preparing for the HAZOP – that meeting of “experts”, to quote our Chairperson. I’m still far from being one and I really still have tons to learn but hey, we all start from somewhere, right? Hopefully, tomorrow’s the last day for my scope of work. Well, except for another HAZOP that would be due in a month probably. And just like any normal HAZOP teams, ours was a United Nations of some sort as well – Australian, British, Indian, Japanese, Latino, American, Filipino (previously there was a French guy) in one team. I’d like to say as well that our team is star-studded. We have Liam Neeson, Rupert Grint, Adam Sandler, Kevin Bacon, Tamaki Hiroshi and Steve Martin-look alikes. Now that’s rare in one HAZOP team. No matter how “star-studded” it is though, I hope it’ll be over soon. Smoothly. Please. Being on the defensive while the rest of the ten experts on the team are on the offensive can be quite tough you know!

In the home front, we’ve also been occupied with something pretty exciting in that our laundry has been piling up! Miss at least 4 days of laundry in Winter and you’re sure to have difficulty catching up with the laundry.

Anyways, was just dropping by! 🙂

Baby Diaries: Sleeping with you

I was in the middle of trying to look for loopholes on my P&ID that the HAZOP team might ask me about tomorrow when I suddenly thought that nowadays, my favorite time of the day is curling in bed like a babe. Then i realized it was because it felt like I was sleeping with you. And with that realization came the tears on my eyes because of the tenderness of the moment, us sleeping together. And in a flash, I thought I got an inkling on what a mother’s love is; that burning feeling of warmth and pure happiness that i felt inside when I thought about us sleeping together. Baby, grow healthy ok. Mommy and Daddy loves you so much.

But we have to apologize…we took the wrong route this morning, or rather we took our usual route to office in the morning in that we fell – hard – on the stairs. =(

We’re really sorry for that baby. I was wondering if you heard me crying out your name as our butts continually hit the steps. Was wondering if you heard my prayer that you stay with me and that you weren’t harmed by the fall. Sorry baby; next time, Mom and Dad will try to be really careful. We love you.
