Puerto Princesa and the 7 wonders of the world

Hurray! Puerto Princesa Underground River made it to the top seven list of the New Seven Wonders of Nature!

It’s not yet final and official though as it will be made official come early 2012. The results were based on the preliminary tally held yesterday, of course, 11.11.11.

Visit here to see the rest of the seven wonders as well as the other 28 finalists.

We’ve been to Coron and El Nido islands, both in Palawan and hence neighboring islands of Puerto Princesa, both beautiful in their own rights. We’ve been to Halong Bay in Vietnam as well, listed as one of the seven wonders together with Puerto Princesa. But we are yet to see the underground river. Hope we could get to visit Puerto Princesa in our next vacation in the Philippines. Can’t wait!!

Omakase (ATC)

After having had tasted authentic Japanese food, one would find it hard to find an authentic Japanese restaurant in the Philippines wherein the food is not “Filipinized” to suit the Filipino palate.

Thankfully though, authentic Japanese food can be found in Omakase ATC, conveniently situated only a few minutes walk away from the (ex) office.

They offer a number of selection on their menu. But a personal favorite is their Tuna Tataki.

Lightly-seared tuna. Spices dust the lightly-seared sides.

Brace yourself though, this one is addictive. One order is just not enough.

Max’s Sizzling Tofu and Goldilocks’ Multi-Grain Bread

I’ve eaten Max’s Restaurant’s Sizzling Tofu and Goldilocks’ Multi-grain bread separately and both is just so tasty. But eaten together? Oh, it’s just an explosion of flavor! Max’s Sizzling Tofu comes lightly fried and in coconot milk with bell pepers and onions. Goldilocks’ milti-grain seemed to heighten up the richness of the coconut-cream-infused tofu and at the same time levels out its richness, creating fireworks of flavor in your palate. The combination is-just-so-freakin’-good. Try it!

Papa’s good food

I think it’s high time to feature Papa’s goodfood here in my blog. As Hubbie describes it, Papa’s  meals are so addictive. He found it so delicious that he gained 2 inches in his waistline in less than four days.

Drat though that I was only able to take a picture of one dish. But then again, maybe it’s good to feature them one at a time.

Papa’s Pancit (noodles). I always  request for this on my vacations back home. The pancit miki that Papa uses is so flavorful and devoid of that plastic flavor I seem to taste in other mikis. Papa tosses lots of ingredients on it that I think of it as a chopsuey sans the soup mixed with noodles. Yummy!!

Pancake House’ Country Sausage

For four small pieces at 89pesos, it surely is expensive. There are times as well when they serve this sausage all shriveled up.

But wait till you slice your knife and fork into it and you’ll be surprised that out of the shrivelled bit comes out juicy meat that would want to make you eat it ASAP. And once you eat it? Ahhh…perfect. Salty just the way I love it, with hints of pepper.
